BirchSeek creates draft posts through the Wix Blog API. The draft appears in your Wix dashboard under Blog for review; the flag that would publish it immediately is never sent.

What BirchSeek does

  • Creates unpublished draft posts - the publish flag is never emitted, and a test pins its absence
  • Converts the article to Wix's Ricos rich content, so headings, lists, quotes and links are real page content rather than an HTML embed a crawler cannot read
  • Sets the SEO title and meta description through seoData, and adds a canonical link tag when the article's home is on another site
  • Authors the draft as a site member you choose, which the Wix API requires for anything an app creates
  • Updates its own prior draft in place; once you have published that post, a refresh stages the regenerated version as a pending revision and leaves the live page untouched until you re-publish

Setup

  1. Create an API key

    As the Wix account owner, open the API Keys Manager at manage.wix.com/account/api-keys and create a key. Grant three permissions - Manage Blog, Read Blog and Read Members - and limit the key's site access to the site you are connecting. Copy it: Wix shows it once.

  2. Copy the Site ID and pick an author

    Your Site ID is the id in your Wix dashboard URL, right after /dashboard/. Paste it with the key. BirchSeek then lists your site members and asks which one the drafts should be authored as - the Wix Blog API refuses to create a post without one, and contributor or contact ids do not count.

  3. Check access

    BirchSeek reads the site's members and blog through the key and reports what it found. The check does not create a draft.

Wix has no site members on a brand-new site, and the API cannot create a post without one - so add a blog writer in Wix first. Creating a draft can take 25-30 seconds on Wix's side; that is normal.
